Timber

Growing timber for multiple uses with smallholder farmers.

Wealth generation is a key component to breaking out of the cycle of poverty. And for smallholder farmers, timber trees act as a store of wealth, similar to a savings account, that can be tapped into as needed.

Africa is projected to have a 40% shortage of timber by 2040 as the population grows and urbanized. We are addressing that need by planting millions of timber trees that are non-invasive, multi-purpose, and drought resistant.

Pictured here is a species in the genus Melia that is native to East Africa, drought resistant, auto-pruning (sheds it’s branches naturally) and grows quickly.

This tree is only 10 months old! Our co-founder Paul Mukiibi is a big fan.
